We’ve really enjoyed holding our latest round of R&Ds for our Musician in Residence programme at St Anne’s House. It’s always lovely to run sessions in a building that puts artists at its heart. The team at Bricks are friendly, happy to help and committed to providing affordable space for people developing creative ideas in Bristol.
We’ve thought about the inputs and outputs. The care, time, money, energy that goes in and the knowledge, ideas, plants, friendships that come out. We started to explore how these things can (and can’t) be measured.
Last weekend an alternative and peer-led art education program The School of the Damned held a special takeover and showcased over 20 artists works at St Anne's House.
In the first session we looked at the words that different countries use to welcome in the new year but we also chatted about accents, swearing in different languages (Ken reflected that even if you don’t plan to do any swearing it is useful to know when someone might be having a go!), experiences of language learning and more.

The evening was a successful Valentine's Night like no other! We held a quiz hosted by Rob, with rounds from guests, including a 'celebrity divorce round'. We were fed by Indian Summer Cafe, and our thirst was quenched by the Bricks Bar.
