Moving-Writing-Tree Workshop for Open Access | Tues 20 May, 5-7pm
Join artist and trained dancer Bhavana, to explore how moving through St Anne’s Woods can inspire creative writing and drawing. Try movement activities, then use your experience to create your own art!
For ages 13-16 | Happening during our free weekly Open Access session — no experience needed! To attend please whatsapp Holly on 077181069539.
Bhavana is an artist, trained Bharatanatyam dancer, and works as a Research
Associate at Bath Spa University. Her interdisciplinary creative practice bridges
dance, curatorial studies, and critical theory to investigate how movement can help
generate alternative modes of understanding place and history. Her research has
explored how performance and body-based practices can be used as political tools
to challenge ethnocentric ways of being.
With an MA in Fine Art from Bath Spa University and a BA in Visual Arts from Stella
Maris College (Chennai), Bhavana has staged performance interventions at
institutions including the British Museum, V&A, Victoria Art Gallery, and Holburne
Museum (2023).
Bhavana’s work has been recognized through awards including the Porthleven
Artists’ Residency Prize and scholarships to attend the Performance Studies
International Conference (2024) and the Performance Epistemologies of the Global
Majority Summer School (2024). She is currently authoring research on her practice-
based work and developing workshops that invite participants to explore collective
movement as a form of knowledge production.
