St Anne’s Creative Warmer

A fun day full of activities, free food, and community!

We welcomed you to join us for a day of warmth, creativity, and community at the St Anne’s Creative Warmer. The event included workshops, crafts, nature and climate, free food, and a chance to learn about different projects that have been happening.

Date: Saturday, 17th February 2024

Time: 11am – 2pm

Family Fun Day / Community Get-Together:

As we look ahead to the brighter season of Spring, the day included creative and nature-focused activities for kids and adults. There was a chance to drop-in to our community get-together, have a free meal and hot drinks, enjoy our living room, packed with games and books, and meet other people who live or work nearby.

Share back from our Community Hydroponics Project:

Attendees could talk to Artist Katy Connor to learn about the ‘New Ways of Growing Together’ project, the indoor farm at St Anne’s House. Over the winter a group of volunteers have been learning about how to grow and care for plants using hydroponics (water and no soil!) This project is a collaboration between Katy Connor, artist and researcher, Georgia Bate, Bricks St Annes, Chloe Meineck, social designer, and Liz Roberts, UWE.

Poetry for everyday, Brislington – Creative Writing Workshop – BRIZ:

There was an opportunity to try your hand at the art of storytelling with our free Creative Writing Workshop. Run by writer Jack Young, the session was a chance to play with words, ideas, explore the poetry of every day and contribute to BRIZ (community newsletter).

Flagmaking Workshop with Diaspora! Festival.

Lots got creative and share who you are with the city by making a flag that represents you! Hosted by artist Sayambrita Mukherjee along with Sherien and Deasy. A collaboration with Diverse Artist Network.

Get Involved in Local Nature & Environment:

There was a chance to learn about and contribute to our Climate Action Plan and the conversations that have been happening over the past year.

Make Seed Balls – Bring wildflower seeds if you have them:

You could make your own seed balls, to contribute to the greenery around us!

Scrap Monster Mask Making with Jo Chalkblack:

Lots of amazing creations were made at the DIY Monster Mask workshop with local artist Jo.

Batch Cook Club

Batch Cook Club presented small demos throughout the day, showcasing tricks and tips to making healthy and affordable food at home. They provided food for all to try and recipes for people to take home!

Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate the people of Brislington as we welcome in Spring!
