Language Cafe

Interested in languages and meeting new people?

Come along to the free langauge cafe at St Anne’s House! Join us for the first taster session on Thursday 11 Jan , 2pm- 3.30pm

It’s a chance to see what people might want to explore about languages and find out what we can do at a languages cafe.

Everyone is welcome, whatever your language background. You don’t need to speak more than one language to attend. The only thing you need is an interest in learning more about language(s) and dialects. Perhaps you have friends, neighbours or family who use other languages.

Following sessions will be on:

• 25 Jan
• 8 Feb
• 22 Feb
• 7 March
• 21 March

All 2pm- 3.30pm

What will happen at the cafe?

We will use activities to explore what languages mean to us and use creative methods (e.g. posters or recordings) to present languages and language diversity, so that we – and others – can see and hear them. We can share our feelings and experiences with languages and language learning. And of course we will have some hot drinks and snacks!

A basic level of spoken and written English is an advantage. However, we can be creative and use translation software etc. to enable understanding.
