Karolina Ptaszkowska

Karolina Ptaszkowska in studio

Karolina Ptaszkowska is a painter and mixed-media artist whose work explores painting as a perceptual field where atmosphere, structure and material behaviour interact.

Through pours, stains and structural drawing, her works stage moments where diffuse environments condense into forms that shift between bodies, architectures and energetic structures.

Working across oil painting, watercolour, coloured pencil, large-scale textile painting and installation, she develops self-generating systems in which image, material behaviour and structural drawing interact. Through pours, stains and diffusion, unstable atmospheric environments emerge, which are then negotiated through lines, diagrams and structural interventions. Within these fields, forms shift between bodies, architectural fragments and radiant structures.

Conceptually, her work engages with ideas of distributed perception and reality as a negotiated field rather than a fixed condition. Painting becomes a site where atmospheric processes encounter attempts at organisation, producing moments where structure briefly condenses out of fluid environments. At St Anne’s House, her studio functions as a site for sustained experimentation with scale, material processes and drawing systems. The space supports the development of new paintings and installations while connecting the work to a wider creative community working across disciplines in the building.
