Catherine Ann White

Catherine is a local contemporary/conceptual making “Some of the weirdest art I’ve ever seen!” artist and tutor based at St Anne’s House.
Catherine Ann White is a former paediatric nurse whose practice explores the quiet mechanics of the human condition. Nursing and studying simultaneously, during covid, she graduated with 1st from her undergraduate degree in Fine Art 2023 and went onto gain a distinction in 2024 in her Masters in Fine Art.
Working across multi disciplines, including sound, video, sculpture, painting, drawing and art writing, Catherine creates symbolic, detailed works that often provoke deep emotional reactions. She continues to make work affectionately described by her peers as “some of the weirdest art I have ever come across, but I love it”.
Having given up her nursing registration Catherine describes her time as an artist in residence at the RUH Bath, as a real privilege. Bringing her art and nursing experience together Catherine was part of the Art at the Heart Team running workshops for inpatients on the Children’s ward and Elder dementia wards. The team were commended in 2025 with an award for patient experience. She is now teaching Contemporary Art at the Folk House in Bristol, where she continues to add to her portfolio of workshops. She also runs life drawing sessions and is a life model.
