Language Café
Interested in languages and meeting new people?
Come along to the free multilingual cafe at St Anne’s House! It’s a chance to see what people might want to explore about languages and find out what we can do at a multilingual cafe.
Session dates, 2pm- 3.30pm:
Everyone is welcome, whatever your language background. You don’t need to speak more than one language to attend. The only thing you need is an interest in learning more about language(s) and dialects. Perhaps you have friends, neighbours or family who use other languages.
What will happen at the café?
We will use activities to explore what languages mean to us and use creative methods (e.g. posters or recordings) to present languages and language diversity, so that we – and others – can see and hear them. We can share our feelings and experiences with languages and language learning. And of course we will have some hot drinks and snacks!
A basic level of spoken and written English is an advantage. However, we can be creative and use translation software etc. to enable understanding.
