Richard Allen

Richard Allen’s practice investigates the agency and theatricality of objects through the making of site-specific sound art and performances. He asks questions about how performance objects; devices, props, instruments, machines, apparatuses and artefacts are appropriated into the making of art works and how this forms encounters for an audience as a way of reflecting on the social, political and ecological impact of the non-human on the human world. Recent work has focused on the notion of sonic theatricality through a site-based performance project The Killers with MAYK (Bristol) and an article about Katrina Palmer’s site-specific audio walk The Loss Adjusters
