Summer Sessions 2024
Across the first week of August we had an incredible time working with local artist Jo Chalkblack to explore nature-connection and creativity in St Anne’s Woods and Nightingale Valley.
We made maps of the landscape with found items, created natural paints from the soil, made a campfire and played loads of games in the woods. We also learnt hip-hop songwriting techniques inspired by our natural surroundings with the acclaimed organisation Hip Hop Garden, who also taught us capoeira and yoga.

Working alongside two filmmakers Daniel and Luca we also learnt filmmaking skills, and will be sharing a short film of the sessions in October at St Anne’s House. Watch this space!
We’d like to say a big thank you to Jo Chalkblack for leading such a brilliant week, as well as Solomon Kawall of Hip Hop Garden, and filmmakers Daniel Markey and Luca Gaspare. Finally, to Val Cross, for her delicious lunches each day which kept us going out in the woods!
