DESCRIPTION:Filmmaking for the Future: Young People at St Anne’s House\, Autumn 2024\n\n\nJoin Us for an Exciting Climate Action Filmmaking Project Exploring Nature and the Climate this Autumn! \nWe are thrilled to invite young people aged 15-21 to participate in a fun filled 3-month climate action film project\, hosted in partnership with Screenology\, BFI Film Academy\, and Bio-Leadership. This project is perfect for passionate individuals eager to learn or develop their filmmaking and storytelling skills to better communicate stories about nature and the planet. the urgency of the climate emergency. \nWhen? \nEvery Wednesday for 12 weeks during term-time:  Wednesday 18 September- Wednesday 11 December 2024\, 5-7pm \nOne Saturday Session on 23rd November 11am-1pm for location shoot (see here for detailed timetable) \nSessions between St Anne’s House\, BS4 4AB and Screenology\, St Vincent’s Works\, Silverthorne Ln\, Bristol BS2 0QD (See here for detailed timetable) \nA film festival organised by the group will take place on Saturday 14th December. \nWhat to Expect? \nOver the course of the 12 week project\, you will: \nLearn Essential Film-making Skills: Dive into devising\, scriptwriting\, camera work\, and editing/producing. \nExplore Nature-Based Narratives: Immerse yourself in Bio-Leadership’s approach to storytelling around nature. \nCreate Impactful Short Films: Develop films based on your interests\, from science fiction to documentary. \nYouth-Organised Film Festival: Showcase your work at a festival featuring your films\, panel discussions\, and workshops aimed at raising climate awareness and creativity! \nIndustry Experience: Enjoy a special behind-the-scenes tour at BFI/Watershed\, along with screenings and Q&A sessions with established filmmakers \nEveryone is welcome\, you do not need any previous filmmaking experience to take part!  \n  \nSIGN UP IS ESSENTIAL \nIf you have any access issues which require you to need a different format to complete this form\, please call or text: 07718 106953 or email: jack.young@bricksbristol.org and we can sort these out for you. \n  \nN.B. DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, 14th December 2024 \nTime: 2–5pm \nWe were thrilled to invite young people aged 15-21 to participate in a fun-filled 3-month climate action film project\, hosted in partnership with Screenology\, BFI Film Academy\, and Bio-Leadership. \nThis project was perfect for passionate individuals eager to learn or develop their filmmaking and storytelling skills to better communicate stories about nature\, the planet\, and the urgency of the climate emergency. \nYou are invited to the Filmmaking For The Future Premiere and Festival. \nPremiere of Short Films by Local Youth\nExperience powerful short films created by young people over the past three months in partnership with Screenology\, Bottleyard Studios\, and Bio-Leadership. Inspired by their connection to nature and climate action\, these films range from documentaries to experimental pieces\, exploring themes like social isolation\, nature disconnection\, sustainable transport\, and visions of a greener Bristol. \nScreening of “Rave on for the Avon”\nDirected by Charlotte Sawyer\, this compelling documentary follows local activists\, including the Conham River Bathers\, in their efforts to protect the Avon River and advocate for clean water. The film captures a year and a half of environmental activism in Conham River Park\, showcasing the passion and commitment of those dedicated to preserving this cherished local ecosystem. \nPanel Discussion and Q&A\nJoin an engaging panel discussion with the young filmmakers and the creatives behind “Rave on for the Avon.” This is a unique opportunity to hear about their creative journeys and insights into climate storytelling\, followed by an open Q&A session for audience members. \nCome be inspired by the voices of tomorrow’s climate advocates and the power of film to spark change. \nSIGN UP HERE

DESCRIPTION:Moving-Writing-Tree Workshop for Open Access | Tues 20 May\, 5-7pm \nJoin artist and trained dancer Bhavana\, to explore how moving through St Anne’s Woods can inspire creative writing and drawing. Try movement activities\, then use your experience to create your own art! \nFor ages 13-16 | Happening during our free weekly Open Access session — no experience needed! To attend please whatsapp Holly on 077181069539. \nBhavana is an artist\, trained Bharatanatyam dancer\, and works as a Research\nAssociate at Bath Spa University. Her interdisciplinary creative practice bridges\ndance\, curatorial studies\, and critical theory to investigate how movement can help\ngenerate alternative modes of understanding place and history. Her research has\nexplored how performance and body-based practices can be used as political tools\nto challenge ethnocentric ways of being. \nWith an MA in Fine Art from Bath Spa University and a BA in Visual Arts from Stella\nMaris College (Chennai)\, Bhavana has staged performance interventions at\ninstitutions including the British Museum\, V&A\, Victoria Art Gallery\, and Holburne\nMuseum (2023). \nBhavana’s work has been recognized through awards including the Porthleven\nArtists’ Residency Prize and scholarships to attend the Performance Studies\nInternational Conference (2024) and the Performance Epistemologies of the Global\nMajority Summer School (2024). She is currently authoring research on her practice-\nbased work and developing workshops that invite participants to explore collective\nmovement as a form of knowledge production.
