SUMMARY:Play for Planet
DESCRIPTION:Flowers of resistance! Joy in a time of climate crisis can often feel like a bright dandelion forcing its way up through cracks in a pavement – determined to grow against all odds. So this month we’ll be celebrating the under-appreciated flowers by crafting them out of paper as we chat. At the end of the session we’ll spend some time as a ‘meadow’ of our paper flowers. \nBooking: The event is free and you don’t have to book but I’m grateful if you can please drop me an email if you intend to join a session.

SUMMARY:Yoga Foundations — 6-Week Beginners Course (June–July)
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to build your yoga foundation in this 6-week course that will leave you feeling centered and strong. \n\n\n\nYoga Foundations — 6-Week Beginners Course\n(formerly Yoga for Beginners at Yogasara) \n📍 St Anne’s House\, BS4\n🗓 Wednesdays\, 6.00–7.00pm\n🌿 10 June – 15 July 2026 \nWhat this course is about\nThis 6-week course offers a gentle\, supportive introduction to yoga. We’ll explore the four core elements of practice: \n• Breathwork\, to calm and steady the nervous system\n• Meditation\, simple practices for presence and perspective\n• Asana (movement)\, building strength\, steadiness and mobility\n• Yoga philosophy\, practical ideas you can take into everyday life \nYou don’t need any experience\, and you don’t need to be flexible. This isn’t about achieving shapes\, it’s about learning how to work with your body\, your breath and your attention in a way that actually supports real life. \nHow the course is structured\, and why\nThis course runs several times a year\, by design. \nWe learn together over six weeks\, then there is space between courses to integrate. Time to practise at home\, attend regular classes with new understanding\, and notice what changes when you live with the practices rather than rushing on to the next thing. \nThis is how learning really sticks. \nWhen we repeat a practice\, pause\, and then return to it\, the brain lays down stronger neural pathways. Things that felt abstract start to make sense in the body. You hear familiar instructions differently. You move and breathe from a more informed\, embodied place. \nEach time you return\, you’re not starting again\, you’re building on lived experience. \nSaturday morning workshops\, between courses\nIn the spaces between the 6-week courses\, I also offer Saturday morning workshops for those who’d like to go a little deeper. \nThese sessions explore the physical practice in more detail\, including: \n• Standing postures\n• Warrior I\, II\, III and IV\n• Balance postures and stability \nThey’re designed to deepen understanding\, build confidence\, and support you to feel more at home in open or mixed-level classes. You can attend them alongside the course\, or return to them later as a refresher. \nCourse dates\n10 June – 15 July \nWhy St Anne’s House?\n• Free on-site parking\, including accessible spaces\n• Ground-floor studio with step-free access\n• Bristol Community Sauna and cold plunge on site\n• A vibrant community hub with café and creative spaces \nWhat to bring\nWear comfortable clothes you can move in.\nBring a yoga mat and any props you have\, plus a blanket and pillow for relaxation.\nMats are available to borrow if needed. \nAbout Katie\nI’m a senior yoga teacher with over 1\,500 hours of training\, and a Family Constellations Facilitator. My teaching is supportive\, down-to-earth and practical. \nFor me\, yoga isn’t about becoming more flexible\, it’s about building capacity\, steadiness and perspective\, so life feels clearer\, lighter and more workable.

SUMMARY:St Anne's Open House 2026
DESCRIPTION:St Anne’s House Open House returns in June 2026 – and this year\, we’re marking something special. Five years since we first opened our doors to Bristol’s creative community\, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than doing what we do best: opening them wide. \nThe weekend runs from Friday 12 June (evening event 6pm–late) through to Sunday 14 June (open hours 11am–6pm both days). Expect artist studios\, exhibitions\, workshops\, food\, drink\, and the kind of energy that only happens when Bristol’s creative community gets together in one place. \nWe’re also collaborating with The BS4 Arts Trail across the Saturday and Sunday\, with stalls and creative activity spread throughout the BS4 area. \nOpen House has always been a weekend for everyone\, and this year is no different. We’ll be announcing a full programme of workshops\, drop-in activities\, and family-friendly events over the coming weeks — including hands-on making\, creative sessions for kids\, and more. \nKeeping you fuelled across the weekend\, we’ll have Cibomatto\, Jazweiners\, and Tasty Ragga on site — more details to follow. \nThis is just the start. More artists\, workshops\, and events will be announced over the coming weeks — there’s plenty more to come.

SUMMARY:Friendly Neighbourhood Film Night
DESCRIPTION:This month\, on Friday 22nd of May\, we will be watching the iconic 90s coming of age ‘Mermaids’\, winner of our instagram poll! \nCher\, Winona Ryder and Christina ricci absolutely shine in this underrated ’90s coming of age gem\, where the real magic is the electric\, messy\, and deeply relatable bond between mother and daughter. \nIn 1963\, the unconventional Mrs. Flax (Cher) and her daughters teenage Charlotte (Winona Ryder) and young Kate (Christina Ricci) arrive in small town New England. Mrs Flax is prone to moving her family somewhere new whenever a romantic relationship ends. But could the arrival of kind-hearted Lou lead to a permanent stop for the family? \nThis screening is a party to celebrate the start of the summer! Expect party refreshments\, good vibes and maybe some dancing! \nAbout Friendly Neighbourhood Films:\nFriendly Neighbourhood Films is a relaxed\, social film club and collaborative project by curators and creative producers Dáire Carson and Alison Jones\, hosted at St Anne’s House.
